 Optimizing Real World

Outcomes in Wet AMD

One Hour Virtual CME Program

Wednesday November 6, 2024

6:30 to 7:30 PM

Featuring Dr. Rishi Singh

Cleveland Clinic

Wet age-related macular degeneration (AMD) is the leading cause of severe visual impairment and legal blindness in patients over the age of 65 years. Over the past two decades, anti–vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) agents have transformed the management of wet AMD, and these agents are credited with unprecedented improvements in vision preservation and quality of life for millions of patients in the United States and globally. Unfortunately, evidence suggests that real-world outcomes lag behind the dramatic results often demonstrated in clinical trials, and this is often due to the high treatment burden associated with traditional anti-VEGF therapies. Fortunately, novel therapies are now available and in development that decrease the treatment burden by extending the dosing interval while maintaining a favorable safety profile. Thus, it is of vital importance that ophthalmologists and retina specialists remain abreast of the latest updates on these therapies and are able to integrate them into clinical practice. In this PeerView Live meeting series, a faculty expert will provide a concise update on the latest evidence supporting new and emerging therapies to optimize the management of wet AMD, along with practical expert guidance needed for clinicians to acquire the skills and strategies necessary to deliver high-quality, evidence-based, and individually-tailored care that recognizes the unique needs and preferences of every patient. Educational Objectives Upon completion of this activity, participants should be better able to: • Recognize patient- and treatment-related factors associated with suboptimal anti-VEGF treatment outcomes in patients with wet AMD • Assess the latest clinical data (eg, efficacy, safety, maximum effective dosing interval) for novel wet AMD treatment options • Select appropriate therapy for patients with wet AMD based on agent and patient characteristics, and with consideration of patient preferences Accreditation, Support, and Credit In support of improving patient care, PVI, PeerView Institute for Medical Education, is jointly accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME), the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE), and the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC), to provide continuing education for the healthcare team.
